By all accounts, Matt Carpenter had a career-year in 2013. He was first-time All-Star, led the National League in hits (199), runs (126) and doubles (55) and finished fourth in the NL MVP voting. His final batting line of .318/.392/.481 wasn't too shabby, either. His easy-going demeanor and relentless hustle easily made him a fan favorite.
