Shelby Miller Dealing With Shoulder Soreness In Early September

To follow up Rick from NJ's question, it seems that team values Wacha more than Miller. Please explain--Wacha was great in September and October, but Miller was good for most of the season, and he has a higher pedigree. Why did the team change its opinion so quickly? by D Soodium 2:55 PM

I don't get that sense. You're judging a team's opinion of a pitcher based on usage only in October -- after one of them had pitched an entire season and was dealing with a shoulder soreness at the beginning of September that he revealed to the team and the other was protected all season long to be available for those innings in October. Don't misread the Cardinals opinion on who could help them best win in October 2013 as who they believe will be the most valuable pitcher for them in 2014. The scale was tilted by Wacha's availability and production. Miller had a whole season of proving his value to the club. by Derrick Goold 2:57 PM
