Yadier Molina, Matt Carpenter Win Silver Slugger Awards

For the first time since 2010, the Cardinals have a Silver Slugger Award winner. Actually, they have two. On Wednesday, catcher Yadier Molina and second baseman Matt Carpenter each became first-time Silver Slugger winners.

Individual honors continue to come the Cardinals' way this offseason, with Yadier Molina and Matt Carpenter the latest from the National League champion club to win awards. Molina and Carpenter both became first-time Silver Slugger Award winners on Wednesday, ending a two-year run in which the Cards were shut out in the award voting.

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has a collection of six Gold Gloves. Now he has a Silver Slugger bat to go with it.

MLB.com is in the process of announcing the winners of the 2013 Silver Slugger Award. The awards are given by position, and in the National League two Cardinals, catcher Yadier Molina and second baseman Matt Carpenter have each earned their first award.
