4. RHP Shelby Miller, 15-9, 3.06, 31 starts, Cardinals: Miller, 23, led all big league rookies in victories. He’s a finalist for the NL Rookie of the Year award, but he did not make one start in the postseason. The Cardinals said Miller was tired and had thrown a lot of innings (173 1/3). There was speculation that the Cardinals didn’t pitch him because they were going to trade him during the offseason for a much-needed shortstop. Miller’s fastball averaged 93.5 mph and his curveball 79.4 mph.
