Cardinals cleanup hitter Allen Craig returned to St. Louis to have another X-ray and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan taken of his injured left foot.
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig was diagnosed with a mid-left foot sprain earlier today after having undergone repeat x-ray and MRI exam. Craig's evaluation, performed by Dr. John Nadaud, a Foot and Ankle Specialist from Mercy Hospital, determined that Craig has a mid-foot sprain and that no fracture is present. Craig will wear a walking boot for protection and will be re-evaluated early next week by Dr. Nadaud and the Cardinals medical staff.

When Allen Craig crumpled behind first base last night in Cincinnati, and then hobbled off the field, the Cardinals were fearing the worst.
