The early returns on Cardinals manager Mike Matheny's tinkering of the lineup for Game 4 of this five-game visit to Pittsburgh were positive. Matt Holliday had three hits in his first three at-bats. The Cardinals had 10 hits and four runs off the Pirates' lefthanded starter and chased him from the game before he could throw a pitch in the fifth inning.
Stuck in an offensive struggle, Matt Carpenter will return to the lineup in the leadoff spot for the series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.
