A day after the Cardinals fortified their bullpen with the addition of John Axford, the Pirates made a countermove, acquiring first baseman Justin Morneau from the Twins. Remember how quiet all three NL Central teams were at the end of the non-waiver Trade Deadline? That’s not been the case this month, as the Pirates have added Morneau, John Buck and Marlon Byrd. After today, any player acquired or signed is not eligible to be on a postseason roster.
