Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, the top votegetter for the National League for the July 16 All-Star Game in New York, is not in the Cardinals’ lineup again today but hopes to be back for Tuesday’s game here against Houston after a scheduled off day on Monday.

Molina told reporters this morning that he has been diagnosed with knee inflammation, a diagnosis that he certainly took as good news. Molina is not in the lineup today but expressed optimism that he won’t need but a few days off. He did not rule out returning as early as Tuesday. Molina said that the MRI exam revealed no structural damage in his previously surgically-repaired knee.
