One of the staples, it seems, before the Cardinals play the first game of a home stand, is that veteran Chris Carpenter, doggedly trying to come back from a nerve ailment affecting his right shoulder and related back issues, throws a bullpen session beyond the right-field fence at Busch Stadium.
