Valera had a brief eight-game stint with Class A Advanced Palm Beach in May, going 4-for-23 with 11 strikeouts. His tenure with the Spikes has gone far more smoothly -- he's hitting .362/.436/.609 and has reached base in each of his 17 games. The 21-year-old shortstop bookended last week with a pair of three-hit games, going 3-for-4 with a two doubles at Williamsport on Monday and falling a home run shy of the cycle against Mahoning Valley on Sunday.
