Rafelin Guzman - Catcher

Guzman is one of the younger players in the group but has a very strong 6-foot-1, 195-pound build that is ideal for a catcher. He’s very athletic and light on his feet for his size and moves very well behind the plate. Guzman will have easy plus arm strength when he matures and his catch-and-throw mechanics are already very polished and repeatable. His drill pop times were all between 1.90 and 1.99 and the first time I got him between innings he was 1.97. That consistency is nice to see in a 15-year old catcher. Guzman’s defense is ahead of his offense but he has the strength and raw bat speed to develop that part of his game.
