Anthony Garcia Named Florida State League Player Of The Week June 1-9, 2013

Florida State League
Anthony Garcia, Palm Beach
(.393/.433/1.107, 7 G, 11-for-28, 3 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 10 RBI, 6 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 SB) After bashing 19 home runs for Quad Cities in the Midwest League last season, Garcia has had a tough time in his first two months with Palm Beach. In his 17 games heading into last week's action, the 21-year-old outfielder was 4-for-61 (.066) with 21 strikeouts and two runs scored. Things turned around rather abruptly at Tampa on Monday, where Garcia homered, tripled and doubled in four at-bats. He added three more hits, including a long ball, the next day, and went deep three times in back-to-back games Thursday and Friday. Garcia cooled off Saturday, going 0-for-3, but drew a pair of walks -- just his second and third free passes since May 7.
