Bob Neighbors
After working his way up in the minor leagues, the shortstop made the roster of the St. Louis Browns in the 1939 season. He quit baseball to join the Army in 1942, never seeing action overseas during World War II. He remained in the military and fought in Korea. On a night mission in 1952, he reported that he was hit and was bailing out. His body was never found.
