Mike Matheny has his instructions. He can’t lift anything more than five pounds. He won’t be able to do one of his favorite things, which is to throw batting practice. On charter airplanes and buses, he has to get up and move around once in a while and wear certain clothing so as not to restrict circulation.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny returned to the team Thursday and said he’s feeling much better after undergoing surgery on his back Monday in St. Louis.
