Rafael Furcal is back in the clubhouse and expected to meet with the media in about an hour, after manager Mike Matheny addresses the group. Furcal was seen by Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday in order to get another diagnosis/recommendation on how to proceed with his ailing right elbow.
On back-to-back days two of the starters competing for the only opening in the Cardinals rotation will make appearances that could help the club answer the pressing question of next week: Who gets the innings?

David Freese will miss his second consecutive game with a sore tailbone after he fell into the stands in Monday's game while attempting to catch a foul pop-up. The injury is deemed minor and not expected to keep the St. Louis native out for very long.
