Due to a lingering back injury, David Freese will begin the season on the disabled list, the Cardinals announced on Tuesday. The news comes one day after Freese characterized being ready by Opening Day next Monday as a "possibility."
The Cardinals have elected to place third baseman David Freese on the 15-day disabled list to start the season. The assignment will be backdated to March 22, his last appearance in a Grapefruit League. He will miss at least the first six days of the regular season as a result.
The St. Louis Cardinals’ injury bug became more magnified on Tuesday when the club announced that 2011 World Series MVP David Freese will open the season on the disabled list.
