Trevor Rosenthal was competing for the final spot in the Cardinals’ rotation following Chris Carpenter’s injury, but manager Mike Matheny announced that the 22-year-old prospect will be shifted to the bullpen.
In the midst of news that shortstop Rafael Furcal will likely miss the entire 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery, the Cardinals also made another - albeit smaller - announcement. Heralded prospect Trevor Rosenthal will not be a starter for the remainder of spring training and will be in the bullpen for the foreseeable future.
