April 5 Springfield Official Site Post Game: The Frisco Rough Riders came to town to visit the Springfield Cardinals for a three-game stretch.  Scott Gorgen, who missed the entire 2011 year, was called on for the home opener.  Gorgen's first two innings went smoothly but hit a rough patch in the third inning and was pulled after a couple singles, steals, and walks.  Kevin ThomasEric Fornataro, and Sam Freeman finished off the game tossing 6.2 innings allowing three hits, no runs, one walk, and three strikeouts combined.  The Rough Riders also threw four pitchers the Cardinals way and kept them to just a total of four hits, three walks, and 16 strikeouts.  Frisco starter Justin Grimm led the way striking out ten over five and a third as Frisco beat Springfield 1-0.

April 6 Springfield Official Site Post Game: Springfield slated John Gast in the number two slot in the rotation and he came through with flying colors.  He tossed seven innings allowing just three hits, one earned run (home run), one walk, struck seven out, and picked a runner off base.  The Double-A Cardinals didn't have much luck getting on the scoreboard until the fifth when Kolten Wong tripled inNick Derba and Jose Garcia.  The Springfield bullpen was able to hold the game in check while Wong and Oscar Taveras pushed a couple more runs across the plate for a 4-1 win over Frisco.

April 7 Springfield Official Site Post Game: Frisco jumped out in front on Springfield in the third game as Brad Hawpe hit a solo homer in the second and then he pushed another run across in the fourth courtesy of a Trevor Rosenthalerror.  The Rough Riders' starter Barret Loux, who St. Louis Cardinals had little interest in a year ago, cruised through five innings allowing six hits and no runs.  The Double-A Cardinals bullpen took over in the fifth and gave up another four runs over the next five frames.  Audry Perez singled in the ninth and Jake Shaffer scored him with a fly ball to center but Springfield came up short losing 6-1 to Frisco.

April 8 Springfield Official Site Post Game: The Midland Rockhounds came to town next for three-game series against Springfield.  Both teams exchanged blows right away with the score sitting at 9-5 after four frames infavor of the Double-A Cardinals.  Connor Crumbliss hit a solo homerun for Midland in the fourth whileOscar Taveras and Xavier Scruggs each contributed back-to-back home runs in the bottom half of the frame for Springfield.  Four relievers were called on to close out the game for Springfield and they tossed five innings of scoreless ball only giving up two hits, three walks, and striking out seven.  Springfield added four more runs total over the sixth and seventh innings and beat Midland 13-5.

April 9 Springfield Official Site Post Game:  Former Springfield Cardinal Gary Daley took the hill for Midland in game two of the series and tossed six innings of two-hit ball while stirking out four and walking two for the winning deicison.  Midland scored on a throwing error by Audry Perez in the third to take the opening lead.  Tyler Lyons left the game in the hands of Justin Wright in the fifth as the Rockhounds were only up by one run.  Midland watched the ball closely in the sixth as they racked up three walks after and first batter strikeout.  Jesse Simpsonentered the game and Dusty Coleman cleared the bases giving them a now 5-0 lead.  Springfield wasn't able to get a run across until the seventh, after Daley left, when Rainel Rosario hit three-run blast following two opening inning walks.  The Cardinals tried for the comeback in the ninth as Kolten Wong homered but came up short 5-4 to the Rockhounds.

April 10 Springfield Official Site Post Game: Midland starter A.J. Griffinpiched six hitless innings and struck eight out to hold Springfield out of the game.  Midland squeezed one run through in the second with Anthony Aliotti doubling in Josh Horton.  For both teams the zeros went up in the next four consecutive frames.  The Double-A Cardinals were able to kick the door open in the seventh as the team took advantage of a couple walks which gave way for Adam Melker to single in one run.  Tommy Pham followed singling in two more to give Springfield a 3-1 lead in the seventh.  The Cardinals added two more runs in the eighth on a two-run single by Jake Shaffer and went on to beat the Rockhounds 5-2.

April 11: The Springfield Cardinals had day off.

April 12 Springfield Official Site Post Game:  Springfield headed out to Frisco for a three-game series against Rough Riders.  John Gast, who started at home vs. Frisco on April 6, had an almost identical start to the previous.  Gast struck out seven while giving up four hits, one earned run, and two walks over seven innings.  The Double-A Cardinals touched the bag first also, as Kolten Wong and Oscar Taveras each grounded out to push Jose Garcia across the plate.  Niko Vasquezlead off the fourth with a walk, followed with a double by Audry Perez, and Rainel Rosario drove in both on a double to give Springfield a 3-0 lead.  Tommy Phamadded some extra padding in the fifth with a solo home runto left field off Miguel De Los Santos.  Eric Fornataro and Sam Freeman helped keep Frisco off the scoreboard and Rosario scored on a Wong double to give Springfield a 5-1 win over Frisco.

April 13 Springfield Official Site Post Game:  Trevor Rosenthal vs. Barret Loux part two was up next in the second of the three-game series between Springfield and Frisco.  The Double-A Cardinals where held scoreless in the first two innings as the Rough Riders' Mike Olt hit a two-run home run in the first.  Frisco added four more runs over the fourth and fifth innings due to walks and miss plays in the field.  Loux was able to cruise right through, like before, and only give up two runs over five and two-thirds innings.  Rosenthal, however struggled giving up six runs over four and two-thirds.  With Frisco up 6-2, Oscar Taveras tripled in two runs in the seventh.  The Cardinals bullpen couldn't hold and coughed up two more runs in the bottom half on a two-run triple by Ryan Strausborger.  Springfield scored a couple more runs in the eighth as Jose Garcia was at the plate, but still fell short to Frisco 8-6.
