Albert Pujols Could Be Back Near All-Star Break

Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols' fractured left wrist has shown "significant improvement" following aggressive treatment to promote healing of the bone, likely allowing the three-time NL Most Valuable Player to return to the club immediately after the All-Star break, if not before, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Cardinals officials expressed increased optimism regarding superstar Albert Pujols on Saturday, but stopped short of projecting a return date for the slugger. Pujols has been out since June 19 because of a small fracture in the area of his left wrist.
A follow-up CT scan performed Friday on the left wrist of Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols showed enough improvement that the three-time MVP will likely be cleared to begin baseball-related activities as early as Monday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
