Royals Scoop Up Matthew Beaty Before Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals called Beaty while he was shopping with a friend in Paducah, Ky., and said they would draft the Dresden High School product with their next pick, but the Kansas City Royals scooped Beaty up in the 48th round with the 1,446th selection of the draft.
