Placido Polanco Takes Rare Dip Below .300 Mark

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel arrived at Safeco Field on Saturday without something he has had the entire season: a .300 hitter.

Placido Polanco went 0-for-4 in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners to drop his batting average to .299. It is the first time since he went 0-for-3 on Opening Day that Polanco has hit lower than .300. Polanco has hit .175 in 11 games since June 5 and .238 in 43 games since May 1.
