C.J. McElroy Already Has College Commitment

But Garza isn’t the only commit the Cougars may lose. Clear Creek product C.J. McElroy, who was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round with the 109th overall pick, is leaning toward bypassing a baseball and football career at UH to turn pro.

“I love baseball and it's been my first sport since I was little," said McElroy, the son of former Chicago Cubs pitcher Chuck McElroy. "It's a great opportunity for me to play at the next level, and I can do it.”
