Cardinals manager Tony La Russa is expected to return to the dugout for tonight's series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies, general manager John Mozeliak said after the team's 9-7 loss Sunday to the Cincinnati Reds.
Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols was initially concerned after being struck by a Francisco Cordero pitch on his left wrist Sunday but sounded more confident about his availability about 30 minutes after the game.
In his first public comments since he left the club to receive treatment and rest for his case of shingles a week ago, St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that he was unsure when he would rejoin the club.
