Cardinals right-hander Mitchell Boggs has cleared what appears to be his final test before being allowed to return to game action.
Injured Cardinals reliever Mitchell Boggs (lower back strain) threw a batting practice session of 15 to 20 pitches this morning and, afterward, said he felt he would be able to pitch this weekend. Boggs has been out since March 1, the same day that righthander Chris Carpenter was injured.
Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter will face hitters Friday in a live batting practice session to test whether he'll return to the rotation five days later in Lakeland, Fla., against the Detroit Tigers.
