Ozzie Smith On The Fast Lane 2-15-11

Ozzie said it was such an honor to see Stan presented with the Medal of Freedom. He said he read about Stan when he was a youngster growing up in Southern California. The first time they met, Ozzie was relaxed because of how easy it was to talk with Stan. Tony La Russa called out the players union for forcing Albert to take the biggest contract he can get. Ozzie said that that’s not the case, he is the best player and he deserves to be the highest paid player. He said he doesn't think that Pujols is getting pressured into demanding the biggest contract ever. He went on to talk about how this is a business and Albert has to do what is best for himself and his family. Ozzie said that if Albert does leave and go somewhere else he doesn't want Cards fans to boo him when he returns.
