The St. Louis Cardinals expanded the ranks in their pitching staff by adding two prospects to major-league camp on non-roster invitations. The goal, manager Tony La Russa said this morning, is to help swallow the innings the Cardinals have coming up during the first week of exhibition games, which includes a split-squad day.
Lefty John Gast and righty Scott McGregor receive the call to join the St. Louis Cardinals major league camp.
