Jake Westbrook On The Bob Shelton Show 11-18-10
Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook joins Bob on the show to talk about his new contract. Cardinals re-signed Jake Westbrook in a 2 year $16.5 million deal with a mutual option for 2013. Jake says he wanted to come back and enjoyed his time here last year. Jake says one of the things that draws him to St. Louis is the playoff type atmosphere and the opportunity to go to the playoffs. Jake says its feel like the best fit for him and his family. Jake says he is glad that LaRussa and Duncan are back. He doesn't know how things would have changed if LaRussa and Duncan didn't come back. Jake says Duncan supplies so much information and knowledge about the game and opponents he faces. He says he looks forward to being around the rotation that the Cardinals have coming back. Jake says that throwing to a guy like Yadier Molina makes pitching a lot easier. He says you can't help but to love pitching to Yadi. Jake also says he likes the way Tony manages. He says Tony tells you like it is and will give you the truth. Jake says he doesn't want to known to be the guy that replaced Ryan Ludwick. He just wants to be appreciated for what he brings to the team and that fans know he does his best to make an impact.
