The Cardinals finalized their coaching staff for the 2011 season, announcing that Derek Lilliquist has been named the bullpen coach. The most surprising news that the club made on Tuesday, however, was located lower in the same press release.
The Cardinals have promoted minor-league pitching coach Derek Lilliquist to major-league bullpen coach, thus completing manager Tony La Russa's staff for the 2011 season.
St. Louis’ major league coaching staff for 2011 is not complete with the addition of Derek Lilliquist, the return of Mike Aldrete and a change of trainers.
