Adrian Beltre Declines Option, Now A Free Agent
Though Adrian Beltre triggered his player option for next season from $5 million to $10 million when he reached 640 plate appearances, it wound up being inconsequential. The All-Star third baseman officially informed the Red Sox on Wednesday that he declined the option. Thus, Beltre is now a free agent.
