Trading Ryan Ludwick Might Have Clipped Cardinals

Q Shouldn’t the St. Louis Cardinals sit down Albert Pujols rather than risk turning his injury into a career-ender? — Charlie, Dayton

A If he is injured, the Reds say in unison, “Keep playing him.” Actually, with the Cardinals dead, maybe manager Tony La Russa should bury all of them. I have never seen a contending team that had a chance against a somewhat struggling team like the Reds go into complete retreat mode the way the Cardinals did. I still say it all goes back to the trade deadline when they traded outfielder Ryan Ludwick for pitcher Jake Westbrook when the Cardinals had enough pitching but not enough hitting. What were they thinking?
