Joel Pineiro Among Injured Pitchers Progressing
On the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 22 with a strained left oblique, Pineiro appears ahead of schedule. He was initially expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
"He actually is starting to get into some exercises, so he's feeling better," Scioscia said. "But he's a long ways away. It's just baby steps right now. But we're encouraged by the fact that this has been 10, 11 days. He's feeling much better than could be expected. So that is encouraging."
