Who takes over at catcher and shortstop?
With senior catchers Kyle Enders and Brady Thomas leaving after solid years, a big void opens behind the plate. This is another place where fall auditions will be held. Versatile Robert Beary, whose bat Tanner loves, is going to get a look there, especially with most of the other spots on the diamond tied up. Junior-college transfer Dante Rosenberg will be in the picture as well. Shortstop Bobby Haney's departure leaves a big hole defensively, but the coaches like his junior-college replacement, Peter Mooney, a Palm Beach CC player who was drafted in the 46th round by the Cardinals. However, it's expected that he'll show up on campus to give the team another gifted infielder up the middle and one who should provide more offense than Haney, who was drafted in the 22nd round by the Giants.
