Skip Schumaker's Cousin Shane Participating In California Wood Bat Invitational
What would have been the 11th annual Best of the West Wood Bat Tournament is now the first California Wood Bat Invitational, which remains the last baseball tournament of the summer for prep players in the South Bay.
Shane Shumaker, who owns and operates South Bay Surf, which boasts nine club baseball teams with players ranging in age from 9 to 19, has taken control of the event, which starts today with one 24-team pool. It concludes Sunday with championship games in the Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions.
