The Cardinals received what seems to be good news from Brad Penny's exam in St. Louis on Wednesday, but it was at best tempered good news.

Cardinals starter Brad Penny will be shut down completely for the next seven to 10 days to recover from a relapse of the muscle strain that has kept him on the disabled list since May.
