Newark Bears officials announced the signing of five players. Infielder Zach Smithlin and pitcher Drew Coffey joined the Bears in the series finale against Somerset on Sunday. Pitcher Kelvin Villa and catcher Manny Mejia were signed prior to Tuesday night’s game and the Bears traded for Bridgeport’s Brian Barton.
