Rays starter Jeff Niemann (6-0), who the Blue Jays roughed up last Tuesday for five runs, held Toronto at bay throughout the night mixing his hard fastball with his breaking pitches. The Blue Jays did not record a hit until Mike McCoy scooted a single through the middle in the sixth inning. Toronto got its other hit off the 6-foot-9 right-hander in the seventh on a hard liner to left by Adam Lind.
