For a few weeks now, it's seemed that Brad Penny was a major key not only to the Cardinals' fortunes, but also to their decision-making progress. Yet when Penny threw off a mound on Monday, it represented good news for the club, but not game-changing news. Penny remains at least a couple of weeks away from appearing in a game as he recovers from a strained right lat muscle, and questions remain about what he'll offer when he returns.
