Cardinals Select Zack Cox, Seth Blair, & Tyrell Jenkins In First Round On 2010 MLB Draft

For the second time in three years, the Cardinals have taken a lefthanded-hitting third baseman as their first choice in the amateur draft. But Jeff Luhnow, the Cardinals' vice president of scouting and player development, said that while University of Arkansas third baseman Zack Cox and 2008 top pick Brett Wallace are similar hitters, the 215-pound, six-foot Cox is a "better-looking athlete."

It took a while, but Tyrell Jenkins can call himself a first-round draft pick.

Jenkins, a Baylor football signee who also stars in baseball, was drafted with the final pick of the major league draft’s compensatory round by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
