Following the Blue Jays' 9-6 loss to the Giants on Sunday, the club optioned Encarnacion to Triple-A Las Vegas and recalled infielder Jarrett Hoffpauir to take his spot on the roster. Anthopoulos said the move was aimed at helping Encarnacion find more consistency in the field and at the plate.
