Todd Wellemeyer's Single Starts Rally Against Nationals

Todd Wellemeyer launched a two-out rally that ended the Giants' scoreless-innings skid and pitched effectively Tuesday as San Francisco ended its season-high five-game losing streak with a 4-2 decision over the Washington Nationals.

Wellemeyer (3-4) continued his success at AT&T Park, where he's 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA in five games, by allowing two runs and four hits in six-plus innings. By contrast, he's 0-3 with a 9.35 ERA in four road appearances.

Wellemeyer also had a hand in ending the Giants' streak of 24 scoreless innings dating back to last Friday night at Oakland. His fifth-inning single was the first of five consecutive two-out hits that generated four runs and broke a scoreless tie against Nationals starter Livan Hernandez (4-3).
