MLB Cancels Dominican Prospect League Game At Giants Complex In Dominican Republic

MLB officials took drastic measures today in attempt of asserting their authority in the Dominican Republic by ordering the San Francisco Giants staff to close its fields to the Dominican Prospect League (DPL) and some of the top amateur players in the country. Despite having demonstrated the interest in being a part of the solution, MLB teams will surely be coerced by MLB to refrain from hosting DPL games in the future. Since the DPL’s inception in October 2009, MLB teams have benefitted from the DPL’s ability to revolutionize the process of evaluating and signing players in the Dominican Republic.
