In the sixth inning of Tuesday’s St. Louis Cardinals victory all of the splits and stars and everything that can align for a hitter still searching for his swing came together for left fielder Matt Holliday. He was facing a pitcher he owned. He was hitting at a ballpark he’s bombarded with base hits. He had a chance to bust the game open and shred his own slump all at the same time.
