Even with all of the winning done by the Cardinals in the seasons first month, a lack of production with runners in scoring position has been a glaring flaw, along with the club’s reliance on the home run ball. Well this week, we may have seen the beginnings of a return to what we expected. Over the first 24 games of the season, the Cardinals had combined to bat .227 with a .328 OBP with runners in scoring position. In 154 AB’s, they drilled 11 home runs, but only 3 other extra base hits (2 doubles 1 triple)
