Braves Reassign Joe Thurston To Triple-A

Conrad, who has played just 36 Major League games since being selected by the Astros in the eighth round of the 2001 First-Year Player Draft, recorded just two hits in the final 23 at-bats he compiled in Florida and entered Friday hitting just .229 (11-for-48). Thurston has compiled a much more impressive .319 batting average. But after spending all of the 2009 season with the Cardinals, the 30-year-old journeyman now once again finds himself preparing for the Minor League lifestyle that he'll find while beginning the season with Triple-A Gwinnett.

"Joe and I talked [on Thursday] and congratulated each other on a good spring and said, 'Hey, we made it tough on them,'" Conrad said. "I can't say enough about Joe. He's a great guy and he had a great spring. It's a tough situation for both of us."
