At least one of the players who spoke to the team during yesterday’s first-workout meeting in the St. Louis Cardinals clubhouse mentioned the importance of fundamentals — or “keys” — that manager Tony La Russa places on spring training. La Russa himself makes even passing mention of it almost daily.
