One of the drills that St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach Mark McGwire believes “reveals” a hitter — and really, that’s a polite way to say “expose” a hitter — is hitting off the tee. Like Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, McGwire is a believer in tee work, and encourages hitters to not only take their cuts off the tee but move the tee around, up and down, to simulate pitches at different locations in the strike zone.
