Ryan Franklin pitches as the closer for the St. Louis Cardinals. Franklin stands as another feather in the cap of pitching coach Dave Duncan. In his first seven seasons, Franklin posted a 4.35 ERA, with a low strikeout rate of 4.8 K per 9 IP, a great walk rate of 2.7 per nine IP, and a high home run rate of 30.8 per 200 IP. Since joining the Cardinals in 2007, those numbers changed to 2.91/5.7/2.7/18.2. So he kept the great walk rate, upped his strikeouts, and prevented home runs.
