Cardinals insider Joe Strauss of the Post-Dispatch says the $18 million per year for Matt Holliday is important for Scott Boras, and the Cardinals aren’t there yet. Strauss says since he is the biggest fish in the free agent pool, Boras will keep drawing this out.
Rob Neyer of ESPN.com says the Cardinals are offering too much money for Matt Holliday because 8 years is too long to have him under contract.
