Cardinals Need History Lesson In Dealing With Scott Boras

In December 1998, the Dodgers signed free agent pitcher Kevin Brown to a seven-year, $105 million contract. The rest of the baseball world was incredulous. Other teams had been interested in Brown, including the Cardinals, but nobody was believed to have offered anywhere near that large of a contract.
