The Cardinals made the right decisions on arbitration: Offering arb to Matt Holliday was a no-brainer. Offering arb to Mark DeRosa makes sense, too. They’ll probably lose him but it’s a good idea to accumulate draft picks. It was an easy call on Troy Glaus; no one has any idea if he’ll be fully healthy and viable and the Cardinals couldn’t risk that he’d accept and stick them with a big salary for 2010.
